Muthamizh Arignar Dr. Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, who served five times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and successfully implemented various public welfare programs. In  honor of Dr. Kalagnar's life-long love for books and his contribution towards the Tamil Society through out the world, as a part of  the 100th birth anniversary of Dr. Kalaignar,  the Kalaignar Centenary Library is established  at Madurai by the Goverment of Tamil Nadu. 

    The Kalaignar Centenary Library, with a Basement floor, Ground floor, and Six Floors, will be an intellectual beacon of South Tamil Nadu. It is designed to be used by children, students, youth, researchers, job seekers, women, and senior citizens. It serves as a hub for learning, encompassing not only books but also a wide range of information resources, arts, culture, science, and technology.
